Photography Award
My book Up Days Down Days, created for the final project of my Masters, has been awarded Chethams Library’s Prize 2009. The award gave special emphasis to social documentary and engagement. A copy of the book will now be kept at the prestigious library. Chethams, tucked away behind Manchester’s Urbis Centre, is famous for its connection with Karl Marx and is the oldest public library in the English-speaking world. The image above is taken from Up Days Down Days, produced in collaboration with families living in homelessness. The charity helping the families have since published 1,000 copies of the book, describing it as ‘extraordinary’.
